How bad is this Philippines typhoon?
The Philippines has been hit hard by Typhoon Haiyan, which caused the worst damage to the country in recent memory.
As of Sunday, more than 7,000 people had died and an estimated 5.4 million were displaced, according to official statistics.
The Associated Press is not naming the dead because they have not been identified.
More than 6,000 have been confirmed dead, including more than 700 dead in the Philippine capital, Manila.
More than 30,000 buildings have been destroyed or severely damaged, and 1,000 others have been severely damaged.
The United Nations has called for an immediate cease-fire to help restore life in the Philippines, which has been battered by the typhoon.
The U.N. agency said it was in contact with the Philippine government, the U.S. and the European Union, and that it was monitoring developments in the typhoons’ path.
