India ‘s poverty traveler’ ‘is like the poor child’
A poverty traveler who spent time in India’s capital Beijing has been arrested for allegedly murdering a 10-year-old girl.
Nalini Srinivas, 32, was arrested on Saturday after a complaint by the girl’s father, who said that Sriniva had raped and strangled her while she was sleeping.
According to reports, Sriniv was caught with the child at her home in the capital’s Gomtang neighborhood in September.
The girl’s mother was also taken into custody, and police later found the corpse in her home.
A source close to the girl, who did not wish to be named, told the Daily Mail that Sriniivas was “like the poor children that he has become.”
The victim’s father told the paper that he had seen Srinivistas at a public park and asked him to “get out” of the city.
Srinivismas allegedly refused.
Police then detained him at his home and booked him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSOA), which deals with the treatment of minors in public places.
The child’s mother has been released on bail.
