Poor traveler, or poor traveler in India, has made it to the headlines across the country.
He is seen as a victim of corruption and has been subjected to death threats by the police, with the police demanding that he hand over Rs 2.5 crore (USD 2,600) to them.
The case has become a cause celebre in India as well, with thousands of people expressing their concern over the poor man’s fate, and even some of the victims’ families speaking out on social media.
The poor traveler, who was travelling from Pune in India’s north to Chennai in the north, is said to have taken the wrong flight from New Delhi to Mumbai on February 26.
He landed in Pune on March 4 and has since been in detention.
The case is now being investigated by the Mumbai Police, who are asking the people of Pune to keep an eye on him as he is seen to be a vulnerable victim.
Police have issued a distress call to people who are in touch with him, urging them to be vigilant and ensure his safety, as his whereabouts are unknown.
The police have also asked the public to contact their nearest station if they have any information on the poor traveler.
